EXTENSION CARE

  • HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS IN GOOD CONDITION?

For the most part, it depends on how you brush your hair - here are a few common tips:

    • Wait for at least 24 hours after the application procedure to wash your hair
    • Brush your hair thoroughly to avoid tangles and knots
    • Do not use hair care products that contain oils or other aggressive chemical substances
    • When going to sauna and/or steam bath wrap your hair in a towel
    • Use mid-to-low temperature settings when blow-drying your hair
    • Brush your hair at least twice a day - after waking up and before going to bed. Ideally, you should also check on your hairdo and maybe brush it once or twice during the day too.
    • Braid your hair before going to sleep but leave the braid loose at the end, without securing it with a hair tie. This will prevent your hair extensions from tangling.
    • Always brush your hair before washing it - mainly, to remove shed hairs.
    • Do not brush your hair when it’s wet. Be sure to dry it first.
    • Always brush your hair gently going from the tips to the scalp. This will make your hair easier to style.
    • Do not pull too hard at your hair extensions or you risk damaging bonds.
    • Choose the right hairbrush that’s designed specifically for use with hair extensions - regular hairbrushes won’t do. Avoid using brushes with metallic or hard plastic bristles, and especially brushes with massage bristles that feature nodules - these might easily damage your keratin bonds.
  • HOW TO WASH HAIR EXTENSIONS

Can you wash your hair with glue-in extensions? Of course, you can. Moreover, you should!

    • Do not pull on the bonds while they’re wet
    • Do not apply hair conditioner or masks directly onto the bonds
    • If needed, you can use dry shampoo to freshen up your hair
    • When washing your hair extensions, keep yourself in the vertical position to prevent the bonds from tangling up
    • Apply masks and hair conditioner if you simply avoid applying it on the roots with the bonds
  • SHOULD YOU LET HAIR EXTENSIONS DRY NATURALLY?

The short answer is no - mainly, due to the fact that wet hair is more vulnerable and prone to damage. That’s why you should always use a blow-dryer to dry your hair extensions and never go to sleep with wet hair.

What if you’re not a big fan of blow-drying and want to let your hair dry naturally? Well, you can do that, to a certain extent. You will still have to use a blow-dryer to dry the roots of the hair and the points of attachment of your hair extensions. Other than that, air-drying is ok to use.

However, you should still do it with caution since leaving your hair extensions wet for too long can harm your natural hair. Also, not using a blow-dryer will make your hair more difficult to brush.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DRY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

It all depends on the length, density, and thickness of your hair. On average, thorough blow-drying should not take you more than 20 minutes.

  • BEST WAY TO PREPARE HAIR EXTENSIONS FOR SLEEPING

To preserve the keratin bonds used while you sleep, we recommend the following:

    • Gently comb your hair before going to sleep (to untangle any knots);
    • Put your hair together in a loose ponytail or braid. This way, you minimize the risk of the strands getting tangled, which may lead to a longer combing time in the morning.
    • Do not sleep with wet hair
  • WHAT ARE THE BEST PRODUCTS TO USE ON HAIR EXTENSIONS?

When it comes to hair care products, it’s hard to give any specific recommendations since it all depends on your scalp and hair type as well as personal preferences.

We will just list the top-5 products that we believe are a must-have for every woman who wants her hair extensions to look great at all times:

    • Specialized hairbrush
    • Good shampoo that fits your scalp and hair type
    • Hair conditioner (do not apply near roots)
    • Hair mask (do not apply near roots)
    • Thermal protection spray during blow-drying
  • HOW DO I REHYDRATE MY EXTENSIONS?

    • Use conditioner every time you wash your hair. When applying it, try to avoid hair roots and points of attachment of your hair extensions.
    • Once a week, use a hair mask - that should be more than enough to keep it moisturized. Make sure to use a hair conditioner after using the mask.
    • Before blow-drying your hair, apply thermal protection.
    • Feel free to use on dry hair products you like as long, as you do not apply them too close to the roots and bonds.
  • HOW DO YOU BRUSH HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Here are a few quick tips for those who have hair extensions.

    • Pull your hair together in the back like you want to make a low ponytail. This will help you to reduce any unnecessary tugging and tension at the points of attachment.
    • Start brushing your hair gently going from the tips all the way to the scalp to make your hair easier to style and keep it free from knots.
    • If you try brushing your hair the other way around (from scalp to tips), this might lead to breakage and damage to both your natural and extended hair. Also, be sure to move the brush through your hair slowly and gently - do not pull it too hard.
    • When you’re done brushing, run your fingers through the hair to make sure it’s well-combed and your bonded hair extensions are intact.
  • SHOULD YOU BRUSH HAIR EXTENSIONS WHEN WET?

    • Always brush your hair before washing - this will help you to remove shed hair and prevent your hair extensions from tangling in the shower.
    • Wet hair is generally more prone to damage and tangling, which is why you have to brush it very gently, slowly, and carefully.
    • Use a dry towel to soak up the moisture from your hair first - no rubbing or twisting motion, just gently wrap a towel around your hair and press slightly. Keep the towel on for no more than 15 mins.
    • Follow steps on how to dry your hair extensions further.
  • HOW LONG DO KERATIN HAIR EXTENSIONS LAST?

Keratin extensions are considered one of the best extension techniques. It allows you to attach the bonds neatly to the natural strands, making the hairstyle as natural and beautiful as possible.

On average, you can wear this type of hair extension for 2-3 months, then you need to book the reapplication procedure.
